Bantwal: Deputy commissioner inspects waste management unit at Sajipa village

Bantwal, Dec 18: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Muhilan conducted a surprise inspection of the solid waste management unit at Panchinadka Padavu in Sajipa village on December 17.

Local residents had raised complaints with the MLA and assembly speaker U T Khader regarding issues caused by improper waste disposal at the unit.

Acting on these complaints, the speaker directed the deputy commissioner to carry out an inspection. During the visit, the deputy commissioner reviewed the situation and reprimanded the chief officer of Bantwal municipality for the mismanagement. He instructed officials to implement scientific methods of waste disposal to avoid inconvenience to the public.

Assistant commissioner Harshavardhan and Ullal tahsildar Puttaraju accompanied the deputy commissioner during the inspection.

Also present on the occasion were former vice president of the district Waqf advisory committee S Abubakkar Sajipa, gram panchayat members Latif Bolame, Abdul Rahiman, Rafique Golipadpu, Ismail Golipadpu, Somnath Bhandary, Praveen Alva, Hanif Sajipa, and other prominent locals.
