Mangalore: Commissioner Promises Complete Cooperation to Youth Festival

Mangalore, Dec 22: City police commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh, promised full cooperation to the 17th National Youth Festival being hosted in the city from January 12 to 16, 2012.

He was addressing a meeting of the officials held at the festival’s camp office at Mangala Stadium in the city on Wednesday December 21. He asked heads of all the sub-committees formed for the purpose to have close liaison with local police, and keep passing on latest information. He also provided the mobile numbers of the deputy commissioner of police (law and order), who is the member secretary, deputy commissioner of police (crime), and traffic assistant commissioner of police, to facilitate the officials to provide feedback and seek assistance whenever required.

The meeting was chaired by district deputy commissioner, Dr N S Channappa Gowda. Joint director of youth services and sports department, Y R Kanta Rajendra, zonal director of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Natarajan, heads of committees as well as member secretaries participated in the meeting.

In the meanwhile, Kumar Nayak, principal secretary in the department of education, who has been given the responsibility of inaugural and valedictory functions of the festival, asked all the committees to draw up a list of programmes for all the five days.  He expressed the wish that the inaugural should be very orderly and meaningful.

Addressing a meeting held at the office of the deputy commissioner here on Wednesday, he provided exhaustive plan of the inaugural function and procession being taken out from Nehru Maidan to Mangala Stadium on the occasion. He asked the committees to take note of suggestions which emerged at the meeting, and submit progress reports thereon in the next meeting. During inspection of the spots where programmes are envisaged, Nayak was accompanied by deputy commissioner, Dr N S Channapa Gowda, and zilla panchayat chief executive officer, Dr Vijay Prakash.
