Vijayapura, Dec 13: The "One Nation One Election" (ONOE) bill is a conspiracy hatched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP to finish off small regional parties which add strength to Opposition’s I.N.D.I.A block, said Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Friday.

“The strength of I.N.D.I.A bloc has increased due to many regional parties such as TMC, DMK, SP, Communist parties. Hence, the BJP is trying to finish them off through the "One Nation One Election" bill,” he said while speaking to media in
Vijayapura.

Asked about Union Cabinet approving ONOE, he said, “The Congress party has already expressed its opposition to it.”

“The BJP-led NDA doesn’t have strength to get the bill passed in the Parliament as it requires 2/3rd majority. I don’t know how they are going to do it. There are elections in many states in the next few months, some states are up for
election in the next 2 to 3 years. I am not sure how they are going to handle it. They are doing it with a clear agenda. Rahul Gandhi has already articulated his stand on this and we stand by that,” he asserted.

Alamatti height increase after Centre’s notification

To a question on increasing height of Alamatti dam, he said, “We are committed to increasing Alamatti dam height to 524 feet, but the Centre has to issue a notification for this. We are currently discussing if we can start the work before the
notification is issued.”

He said: “There are some issues with the land acquisition as some people have brought an order from the Court seeking higher land valuation than Bengaluru. We have no objection to the price fixed by Bommai government. The CM has called
for a meeting of elected representatives on Monday.”

Asked about a long list of demands from the protestors, he said, “They may have 100 demands, but we will do whatever it takes to execute it within the legal framework. We will make all preparations and wait for a notification from the Centre. The Centre is also supposed to release Rs 6,000 crore grants for the project.”

"One nation one election" theory goes against the Constitutional provisions. It will be challenged in the Supreme Court and will certainly be struck down. The BJP knows this very well, but still want to go through it just to divert the attention of the public from the real issues. Somehow, hold on to the power they have got.

Unity in diversity is the slogan on which India is held together -- Various languages -- cultures -- ethnicity-- dresses -- life styles -- local issues -- food habits -- relationships - priorities in life ---etc. -- etc. -- BJP assumes all will be one nation--in mind and soul -- For example, one nation one tax -- one nation one language -- one nation one EVM -- one nation one leader --etc -- one nation one dress -- food habits -- etc. etc. -- All time is finite for a person living on planet earth -- But BJP assumes MR MODI will go on -- Their trump card also follows the laws of diminishing returns -- as we saw last Lok Sabha -- 240 seats -- the one nation one election is hence BJP 's hallucination -- it has to pass thru various State govts -- other procedures and can be challenged i n Court's -- STATE ISSUES ARE DIFFERENT FROM NATIONAL ISSUES --

I feel it will not be possible as governments collapse repeatedly in states. It will lead to presidential rule in many states and India will be in the hands of president rule Not a practical suggestion I feel because it shall make democracy weaker!

Mr. DKS, this is a ploy to deviate public attention from real issue. The crooks are silent on Manipur, unemployment, inflation and other issues affecting the public. Someone thinks power is for eternity.

It is not at all possible. First time they managed to do the election. say in Karnataka after 6 months or one year government collapse that what central govt do. They are going to impose president rule for rest of time. Wait for 4 years to do election if that is the case where is democracy?

ONOE is anti constitutional and there is no mention of it in the constitution at the same time stating any other alternate method is unconstitutional. As usual the central BJP govt has to adopt unconstitutional method to pass anti constitutional bill as law. Can courts uphold this new unconstitutional law of BJP or trash it as illegal citing not in thier law book?????…….
