Mangaluru: Hydrochloric acid leak from gas tanker – Rescue operation underway

Mangaluru, Dec 9: Hydrochloric acid is leaking from a gas tanker at Kotekar Ucchila on NH 66 due to a technical snag. Ullal and Mangaluru police are present at the site. Teams from MRPL and fire services have rushed to the location to manage the situation.

The driver of the gas tanker, which was transporting hydrochloric acid from Karwar to Kochi, noticed the gas leak and immediately stopped the vehicle. There is a possibility that nearby residents might experience breathing difficulties due to the acid leak. The MRPL team is on its way to address the issue.

 

Traffic movement on the highway continues as usual, and no specific instructions have been issued to locals or motorists so far.

Following the incident, the area has been sealed down under the supervision of the tahsildar to ensure safety.
