Mangalore: 'Christmas Sambhram' Celebrates Joy of Season, Diocese Jubilee

Mangalore, Dec 19: A grand 'Christmas Sabhram-2011' was organised at St Agnes Special School grounds here on Sunday December 18 to celebrate Christmas and also the post centenary silver jubilee of the diocese of Mangalore.
The event was organised by Yuva Catholic Vidhyarthi Sanchala (YCS/YSM).
In his presidential address bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza said, "May Infant Jesus be born in everyone’s heart to spread the happiness and joy to men and women. This is another occasion to increase one's devotion."
He also appreciated the organizers for coming up with such a spiritual event. He concluded his address by wishing everyone the compliments of the season.
Stephen Mendis, director, Western Institute of Technology was the chief guest on the occasion. In his speech, he gave testimony on how God helped him during his time of difficulties. "I request everyone to believe in the power of Jesus as it has helped my family and me," he added.
The event included preaching by Br T K George and Fr Franklin D’Souza, accompanied with devotional songs and dances. Episodes from the Bible were enacted depicting the life of Jesus.
Noted singers like Melwin Peris and others regaled the audience with peppy numbers. Santa Claus stole the hearts of many.
Ronald D’Souza was the co-ordinator of the event. The huge crowd which had gathered enjoyed the evening.
