Mangaluru, Dec 6: The Valencia-Gorigudda road, plagued by potholes along its entire stretch, urgently requires repairs. This road, which connects to the NHAI, has been deteriorating for over a year. Frequent excavations for various projects have left the road unfinished, worsening its condition further.
Residents of Valencia and Gorigudda have long demanded repairs, while shopkeepers have voiced frustration over the ongoing disruptions. Roadwork has been repeatedly initiated and then abandoned, leaving the stretch in a progressively deteriorating state.
Over the past year, the tar surface has worn away, leaving large potholes that pose a significant safety risk. Motorists, who use this route to avoid heavy traffic at Pumpwell and Kankanady, are now struggling with its poor condition.
The road is frequently used by students traveling to schools and people visiting nearby religious sites, yet no authority has taken responsibility for its repairs. Although roadwork was recently initiated, the efforts were rendered ineffective due to heavy rains and a cyclone, which caused the newly laid stones to come off easily.
