Kolkata, Dec 15 (IANS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday ordered a probe by the Criminal Investigation Department into the hooch tragedy which has already left 128 dead and over 100 hospitalised in South 24-Parganas district.
Banerjee told the state assembly that the prime suspect, Badshah, was under the patronage of a political party for a long time.
She said the problem of spurious liquor was there across the state and asked all political parties to come forward to stop the menace.
Banerjee also proposed an all-party meeting on the issue Friday in the chamber of Speaker Biman Banerjee.
