Karkala: Leopard menace grips Bailoor-Palli, residents criticize forest officials

Karkala, Nov 23: Residents of Palli, Kanajar, Ranganapalke, Eliyaal, and Ninjur near Bailoor in the taluk are facing sleepless nights due to the persistent leopard menace.

The leopard has been spotted roaming openly during the day in Palli Marutinagar, creating a sense of fear among the locals. It has preyed on domestic dogs and cattle, further escalating the concerns of the residents. Many have voiced complaints, accusing forest officials of neglecting their responsibility to capture the animal.

Children are particularly affected, as they are unable to step outside even during daylight hours due to the leopard's presence in areas like Palli, Maruti Nagara, and Mangaldi Mata. Locals have urged forest officials to set up traps and take immediate action to catch the leopard, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
