Kuwait: KCWA Hosts Eventful Christmas Party 2011

Kuwait, Dec 11: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA), under the leadership of its president, Stephen Machado, organized the annual Christmas Party at the Al Afrah Hal in Salmiya here on Friday December 9 from 6.30 pm onwards.
The programme commenced with a prayer by Rudy D’Souza followed by KCWA anthem and welcome address by the president. The prizes to the winners of the competitions held on November 25 were distributed by Fr Noel D’Almeida .Charles D’Sa was the main sponsor of the event. The co-sponsors of the event were Pascal Pinto, Nazreth brothers, Ronald Rego, Vally D’Sa, Karol Mathias, Ivan Mendis, Archie Menezes, John Fernandes, Lawrence Saldanha, Lancy Vas, Jovita D’silva and Jossie Pinto. The sponsors and co- sponsors of the programme were felicitated on the occasion.
The merit scholarships sponsored by Mabel and. Sam Alphonso, Felix Saldanha, Lawrence D’Souza (Caesars Group) and. Nitin castelino were awarded to the students of tenth and twelfth standard from Kuwait and India, for their academic excellence. Harold D’Souza (Spinns Confectionery) sponsored extra-curricular award for the members' children, was awarded for the children who won in the CBSE inter-school competitions, inter-college competitions or represented the school outside the state/country.
A tableau directed by popular dramatist, singer and composer Lancy Rodrigues titled as ‘sanddullem dirvem’ was presented with a Christmas message. The nostalgic entry of Santa made the kids ecstatic. Santa distributed gifts and chocolates to children who were delighted to receive the surprise package from Santa. Lots of spot prizes were given throughout the dance session. The DJ for the day was ‘Spinners’ who gave thumping numbers which kept the gathering busy dancing.
Special member’s draws were held for the active members present on the venue, renewal of the memberships for 2012, Life & patron members. Hamper draw was held with fabulous prizes during the event. A painting by Trevor was auctioned among audience.
The programme was ably conducted by Dr Manohar, Deepak Andrade and was supported by Anil Fernandes and Stephen Machado. A grand sumptuous dinner prepared by Caesars was served which was appreciated by all. The backdrop was done by Godwyn and sound system was provided by Illuminations.
