Zagreb, Dec 10 (IANS): Croatian police detained two top soccer officials suspected of taking bribes and match-fixing. UEFA has confirmed that it has been notified of arrests by the Croatian FA.
Croatia Football Federation (HNS) vice-president and former referee Zeljko Siric and head of the national refereeing association Stjepan Djedovic were arrested on suspicion of fixing at least one match in its domestic leagues here Friday, Xinhua reported.
They were detained after taking 30,000 euros (about $40,000) in bribes from an undercover agent to fix Croatia's First Division matches in 2009.
