Murmugao: Vasco Ravindra Bhavan Construction at Fast Pace - Jose Philip D’Souza

Murmugao, Dec 7: The construction work at Vasco Ravindra Bhavan is going at fast pace and it will soon be dedicated to the people of taluka, said Goa revenue minister Jose Philip D’Souza in his address at the All Goa Dandiya Dance Competition organized by Saiyogam Kala Sangh here at Headland, Sada.

D’Souza added that the Vasco Ravindra Bhavan would be unique and the first of its kind in Goa with features that would include studio facility for shooting of full length films.
 
He also disclosed that the area where the Ravindra Bhavan is coming up is worth Rs 300 crores and that he resisted all forces which wanted to put it to commercial use and thus deny common men from getting advantage of the same.
 
Such Kala Bhavans help bloom talents and satisfy souls, there could not be better service to humanity than to find avenues of keeping common people contented, he said.

He expressed happiness over the fact that the Saiyogam Kala Sangh which he inaugurated a year ago and extended support could attract the merit of getting 25 first prizes and fetch over 35 awards at the state and the National level within a short span of time.

D’Souza also spoke about several other projects he successfully undertook in public interest including laying of underground reservoirs and said that steps he took in the direction of meeting the water supply problem would yield encouraging result.
 
 
Noted poet and former Station Director of Doordarshan Yusuf A Sheikh was the guest of honour in his address said that it was the determination and inclination to bloom talent inherent in a person that yield spectacular results. Artists need warmth of appreciation and encouragement he added.

Sheikh also appealed the audience to support the artists in their endeavors to create an atmosphere of a meaningful living. He further said that though Vasco and Mormugao are two different constituencies politically, practically for generations it was just one port town and development of market in Vasco area or beautification of Baina beach in Mormugao bring comfort equally to all residents.

Sheikh complimented Jose Philip D’Souza for his efforts to bring Ravindra Bhavan at Baina without keeping narrowness of constituency in mind. He thanked the minister for his approach towards the poor.
 
Goa Youth Congress leader and the chairman of the Horticulture department Sankalp Amonkar in his address complimented the artists of the Saiyogam Kala Sangh for their recent performance at Nagpur that brought 2nd prize and said that it had, in effect, brought honours to the Sada area.

Amonkar assured that he would always support the creative and social activities in the region. He also appealed people to extend support to Jose Philip D’Souza in his efforts to serve poor section of the society.
 
 
Former Information Officer and the chairman of the Advisory Board of the Saiyogam Kala Sangh Vishwanath Sawant said that the artists belonging to the marginal class of the society could create wonders if encouraged and the performance of the Sada area artists is a notable example.

Complimenting the artists Sawant said that the Sangh would like to keep on record the support rendered from time to time by Jose Philip D’Souza to take up activities with full vigour.
 
The most delighting part of the programmed was felicitation of all partipants’ parents.
 
President of the Sangh Umesh Fatji welcomed the gathering and briefed about the activities of the organization and thanked all those who extended moral and financial support.

Editor and publisher of Konkonn Divo Ashok R Chodankar and Gopalkrishna Kambli were present at the occasion.

 The Dandiya dance competition followed the formal function, which was compered by Vijay Naik and Ruchita Morje. Ashish Sonar and Avin Naik served as the judges for the competitions.
