BJP Questions Sonia's Silence on FDI in Retail

New Delhi, Dec 6 (IANS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday asked why Congress president Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi were silent on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail.

"The government decided to allow FDI in retail Nov 25, till now, I did not get the opportunity to know the views of the party president (Sonia Gandhi), or her general secretary (Rahul Gandhi), whom they consider leader of future," said BJP leader Arun Jaitley at a rally here.

"Are they happy with the government policy or not, this did not come before the people," he said.

Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Jaitley also said that the decision was a knee-jerk reaction from the government which had been weak in economic reforms.

"They thought they will do something in one shot," he said.
