New Delhi/Mangaluru, Oct 28: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) inaugurated its Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 at the Refinery Training Center on Monday,October 28, under the theme “Culture of Integrity for Nation’s Prosperity.”
The inaugural lamp was lit by managing director Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath, director (refinery) Nandakumar Velayudhan Pillai, chief vigilance officer (CVO) Ganesh S Bhat, executive director (projects) BHV Prasad, and executive director (refinery) B Sudarshan.
In his message, managing director Mundkur Shyamprasad Kamath reflected on the oil and gas industry’s responsibility to uphold integrity. He noted that lapses in procurement, operations, or environmental practices could lead to significant financial and reputational consequences. Kamath urged employees to foster a culture of integrity within MRPL and encouraged transparency across all facets of business.
Director (refinery) Nandakumar Velayudhan Pillai addressed the gathering, emphasizing that MRPL’s reputation relies on trust built with partners, customers, and communities. He underscored each member’s role as an ambassador of MRPL’s core values: honesty, integrity, and transparency.
Chief vigilance officer Ganesh S Bhat highlighted the significance of integrity, noting recent updates to MRPL's Materials Manual based on Central Vigilance Commission recommendations. He emphasized that prioritizing integrity reduces avenues for corruption, promoting a more transparent and trustworthy system.
The vigilance pledge was taken in Kannada, Hindi, and English. Special messages from the President of India, the Prime Minister, and the Central Vigilance Commission were read.
The ceremony began with the MRPL anthem, followed by a welcome address from Krishna Hegde Miyar, group general manager (human resources). The event concluded with a vote of thanks from CGM (vigilance) Lakshmeesh Bhat and was compered by chief manager (vigilance) Rakesh Lobo. The program closed with the National Anthem.
