Kundapur, Oct 24: A brazen daylight burglary rattled a house on Brahmagudi Road near Hanglur, with thieves breaking in between 2 pm and 4 pm on Thursday, October 24, stealing valuables worth lacs, including gold and cash.

The incident occurred at the residence of Jagadish Chandra Nair, originally from Kerala. Police have launched an investigation.

Jagadish and his wife, who both work at a local printing press, had left for work after lunch. When they returned around 4 pm with their daughter, they discovered the back door had been smashed open.

Reports indicate that about Rs 60,000 in cash was kept at home. The exact amount of gold stolen will be confirmed after a forensic team assesses the scene.

Despite nearby houses, the boldness of the theft has left the locals on edge. With a recent spike in thefts in Kundapura, residents are urging police to step up efforts to catch the culprits.

A case has been registered at the Kundapura police station.
