Dubai, Dec 2 (IANS) A Dubai resident hopes to set a new Guinness record by decorating his car with 33,000 UAE coins as a tribute to the country on its 40th National Day.
Tariq Javaid, a former Pakistani, who works in the UAE's automobile sector, used a 1998 Chevrolet Camaro car to "express his love for the country he has resided in" since 1999, Gulf News reported.
Javaid said decorating the car took 3,000 hours to complete.
Apart from the 33,000 coins together weighing 160 kg, it took around 10 kg of glue to complete the task.
Javaid has documented every step of the decoration process, in preparation for his Guinness bid.
He glued the first coin on to the car Oct 15, 2010, while the last piece was pasted a week ago just ahead of the national day celebrations.
The National Day, celebrated Dec 2, marks the UAE's formal independence from Britain and the eventual unification of the seven emirates in 1971.
