Mangaluru, Oct 13: Mohammed Manik, a Bangladeshi citizen, who was arrested at Mangaluru International Airport while attempting to fly to Dubai, has been remanded to police custody for one week.

A case has been registered against Manik at the Bajpe police station. He was produced in court and taken into custody for further interrogation.

Manik presented an Indian passport and other documents at counter number 6 of the immigration section at Mangaluru International Airport. The immigration officer, who grew suspicious, discovered during the inquiry that Manik is a citizen of Bangladesh.

Manik, a resident of Manikchowk in Rajshahi district, Bangladesh, holds a Bangladeshi national identity card with the number 601. He reportedly entered India in 2017 via the Lalgola Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. It is learned that he traveled through Sialdah-Howrah-Chennai-Moodbidri, eventually reaching Udupi. During interrogation, Manik confessed that he obtained the Indian passport with the help of a person named Parvez, a resident of Udupi.

Lebanon was a Catholic Country . Just 4 decades back. Today its turning to heaps of rublle. Just introspect what happened in between. Similary when you have Indians providing logistics on the basis of religion and compromising national intrest, this is expected.

Ajeeb hai, everyone is claiming that Minorities are sacred in Bharat and he being a Bangladeshi and that too being from major community and still wants Indian Passport?... Wierd. All local support se lekar state ministers and central ministers are liable for this. As claimed by Mr. Dhruv Rathee , Bangladesh is very peaceful and friendly country, he could have Manik could have stayed back there itself. I feel minorities in Bangladesh, Pak and Afghanistan are very secured... Because there is no minorities left there ... No Pun Intended. Jai Hind

They caught just one Banglaeshi in Mangalore and it is a great news!! There are tens of thousands of them in Bombay and other metro-cities of India. Tripura and Assam are full of them. Even in Mangalore they are in plenty but they would not tell you they are from BD. Neither India can send them back nor BD would want them back. I met few "Indian" Bangladeshis in the Gulf countries who arrive there from India after obtaining Indian passports. They just sneak into India by bribing our border guards. Most Gulf Countries prefer Indian workers over Pak & BDs, so once they cross the border, they obtain Indian documents as some of our agents help them obtain these documents illegally. Everything is possible in India. I recall an incident when a Bangladesh approaching me to inquire on getting a job in our company. When I told him that we only have Indian Block Visa and not for other countries, he casually replied saying he can come from India with Indian passport, which he had already acquired. He also told me that his brother in Saudi came from India with Indian passport. During their annual vacation, they apply for Bangladeshi visa in order to visit their home as they cannot travel to their country without Bangladeshi visa.

how did this man cross over to India? BSF is not under any state governmemnt? 10 years is not enough to secure borders? just sitting in Delhi and bhashanbaaji wont help...it is very clear that our borders are porous and the people are minting money there also....it is very well known to the so called majority community entrepreneurs in DK and Udupi that all these are from Bangladesh...but in order to run business and make money they compromise national interest..there is no patriot in India left now...every Indian want to be rich at any cost...just blaming minority and congress will not work...

See who helped him obtain the Indian Passport. Yes!!! , it had to be the common factor. God knows how many Bangalis he might have helped. A very alarming situation. The Govt is busy in vote bank poltics and appeasement tactics that give rise to such anti national activities.
