Mangaluru: Private bus named 'Israel' changed to 'Jerusalem' after objections

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Oct 6: The name of a private bus operating between Mulki and Moodbidri was changed following objections raised on social media. The bus, originally named "Israel Travels," has now been renamed "Jerusalem Travels."

Lester Kateel, a native of Kateel who has been working in Israel for the past 12 years, purchased the bus from Mangaluru and named it Israel Travels. His family members were managing the bus business.

Recently, as tensions between Palestine and Israel escalated, objections were raised regarding the name "Israel Travels," and the bus was criticized on social media. The matter was brought to the attention of the police, who promptly requested the bus owner to change the name to avoid any potential communal issues. In response, Lester renamed the bus "Jerusalem Travels."

Reacting to the situation, Lester said, "I worked in Israel and witnessed the country's excellent systems. Out of respect, I named the bus 'Israel.' However, I have changed the name after objections were raised. Jerusalem is a holy land and is also part of Israel."

TV personality Rajdeep asked one question to one of the Palestian person on one of the Tv debate...... Why can't Hamas release remaining hostage of Israel citizen taken hostage on 07th Oct'2023? That humble Palestian replied very firmly that why can't Israel release 4,450 Palestinians – including 160 children, 32 women, and 530 administrative detainees in Israel prisons? You may like it or not by owing your support based on your faith or leaders you follow...... but his answer is very touching....

Why do they object to petty issues, see how minorities are threatened and killed in Pakistan and Bangladesh, that time why they cannot criticise in the social media. This is called double standard of the so called people.

Just a name of a tiny country Isreal can trigger some people then how much of insecurity, intolerance and hatred is filled in their hearts. The bus owners worked there and he feels safe there. It is also the holiest site for Jews and Christians. If waving Palestinian flags in public and openly supporting hamas despite the attacks on Israel which is an ally of India can be justified then naming a bus after Isreal shouldn't be an issue. The government shouldn't be biased towards one section of the society everytime....

Naming his bus whatever he wants is his choice..whereas travelling in that bus is our choice..the police has no moral right to ask the owner to change the name..I being a muslim object to police asking to change the name..

The police rather than asking him to change the name should have taken the necessary step to protect his freedom of speech and expression. The question arises whether the state machinery has failed to protect fundamental rights?

Exactly! According to the State HM there’s nothing wrong in displaying Palestinian flag in public. Then what’s wrong in naming a private vehicle after Israel? When the nation has close ties with both the warring peoples, the state machinery is expected to be explicit, fair and clear in this matter.

India is dotted with Saudi Travel. Dubai restaurants, Bahrain Furniture shops, Muscat Showroom. Examples go on. But naming a bus after his Karma Bhhomi is not acceptable. This is the religious intolerance that's so established in India. Pity the future generations who I fear would be living under Sharia law in India

Why object to name Israel why should one change that name . Dont bend against this so called jihadis let them do their own business and they have no right to ask any one to change the name. I would have never changed this name do hell with Jihadi brigade. It is time to teach this jihadi brigade a lesson what Israel is doing right now.

In my view there is no issue here by naming Israel for his bus. Irrespective of any religion , at the end, the owner is an INDIAN. As Indians we have to stand with Israel.. Israel helped us back in 1999 by supplying us with laser guided missiles during the Kargil War against Pakistan. For the Balakot strikes, Israel made SPICE bombs were used. No other country stood by us unconditionally. Bless Israel and you will be blessed. Curse Israel and you will be cursed. Genesis 12:3 KJV And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Israel means Between I and EL (God) Straight Road Ahead that is of Truth. Means whoever believes in God and follower or in search of the Truth. Jerusalem means City of Peace. But no peace till all believe that we are all children of the One God The Father in Heaven or the Children of the Most High or All are gods as Jesus Himself said in the Bible in St John 10.34. Even Old Testment Psalm 81.6 DRB (newer versions 82.6) says "I have said: You are gods and all of you the sons of the most High." So No Slave Business or God doesnt slave anyone or there is no need for it as Father never slaves his children! apart from correcting his wayward children.

There is a blatant attempt to spread " Misgonomy " against a tiny Jewish state, comprising barely 68 Lakhs citizens... We should never forget that it was Israel, who stood like a rock with India, against a Terrorist Islamic state of Pakistan... Don't be suprised that evil bigots will not hesitate to demonize India in the near future...

The best is, do not bring other's problem home; alas that is hard sell because we see some people dressing like Arabs in India too after their brief stay in some Arab country. I wish we emulated Israel in innovation, sea water desalination for potable water for all and the startup culture that did not just start-up but went the distance in superior technology development. Most importantly, any cost is no cost when it comes to the lives of their fellow countrymen.

The name of a bus should not be controversial, its owner has the right to name it whatever he wants, no one should crucify me for saying this, I am a Muslim but we should be tolerant.

Why? There is no logic for objections!. When Karnataka HM Parameshwara can say 'Free Palestine' slogan is okay as India supports 2 state policy for both. ' Israel travels ' as a name should be fine, as Israel is an India friendly country. Unless the state Govt has a vested intrest of appeasing a certain crowd.

I think it was okay for him to name and keep his business name as Israel named after his karmabhoomi. But moreover, I am happy that he chose to change its name. More than communal harmony , I hope he did it after seeing the genocide they are doing in Palestine killing thousands of children

In fact genocide happened inside Israel on 07/10/2023 when Palestinian terrorists brutally massacred over 1000 innocent civilians taking 250 hostages. What’s happening now is exactly what Hamas wanted – play victim card and gain world sympathy.

This is simply absurd. What is wrong in having the name ISRAEL travels? The people who objected have a problem with what?? No one can deny the existence of Israel. If that is the case, they cannot be the decendants of Abraham or Isaac or Moses. I don't want to give a history lecture here. But the objection for the name Israel is absurd.
