Kundapur, Oct 1: A student walking on the footpath with his friends after finishing the day's classes was tragically killed when a tipper truck struck him at Kageri near Koteshwara First Grade College on Tuesday October 1.

The deceased has been identified as Dhanush, a resident of Nagoor, and a first-year BSc student at Koteshwara Kalavara Varadaraja Shetty Government First Grade College.

Dhanush was walking with two of his friends on the interlocked footpath when a speeding and recklessly driven tipper, named Sri Mahaganapati Prasanna, approached from behind. The driver, in an attempt to avoid hitting an oncoming car, swerved and struck Dhanush, killing him on the spot.

Kundapur traffic police have registered the case and are investigating further.

Truck driver should be charged with murder; what a young boy, what he did, what a ridiculous foolish guy; if he hit that similar automobile, he would have saved at least one life, but unfortunately, we lost our youth because to tipper negligence

I saw the video of this tragic accident. The tipper driver was definitely overspeedinf and could not control his vehicle! But the Ecosport vehicle who suddenly came to his path was equally at fault and intelligently is seen fleeing the scene! Law should punish such insensible offenders too!

What the heck? "Police are investigating" . The driver should be arrested and put in a lockup and the court should not allow bail for such negligent and rash driving amounting to man slaughter.

Reckless Private bus drivers who fight for 2-5 min delay and over speed should also be addressed. Another day a same thing will happen becoz of one bus driver.

The tipper driver's driving license should be immediately cancelled and the criminal case of murder on the death of the student should be filed . as the tipper driver is a murderer.

Tippers have been responsible for a significant number of deaths and accidents on the road. Despite of this, the traffic police or the RTO hasn't taken severe action nor has the will curb this. The tippers are normally smuggling sand and stones and ofter drive recklessly to reach the unloading destination this causing accidents. The drivers are normally drunk too. They also travel in very remote routes to evade the cops and are responsible for damaging village roads due to overloading. But honestly I will be greatly surprised if things will be set right at all. Unfortunately India has a huge population and the govt doesn't care if one life is lost. They will announce some compensation and the case is closed. The culprit driver will appear once again in another tipper to claim another life. .
