Moodbidri, Sep 30: Villagers organized a protest rally on Sunday, marching from Guddeangadi bus stop to Paladka Mavinakatte, as officials and representatives failed to take action to repair the Puttige-Paladka road, which connects Belman and Moodbidri.
Addressing the protesters, Prashant Bhandary, the protest leader, said, "This road is heavily trafficked with vehicles and pedestrians. We have repeatedly appealed to our representatives and officials to repair the road, but our requests have gone unheard. Now, the villagers of Puttige and Paladka gram panchayat limits are protesting by planting banana trees in the large potholes on the road, demanding immediate action."
Prominent figures like Ashok Hegde, retired teacher Andrew D’Souza, former president of Puttige gram panchayat Shashidhar P, Roshan Serrao Guddeangadi, and local representatives from the Puttige and Paladka gram panchayats, along with more than 300 villagers, participated in the protest.
