Bantwal, Sep 22: A water supply tank in Navoor village, which had been left uncleaned for the past 12 years, was cleaned on Sunday through a voluntary effort led by the Navoor Shaurya team of the disaster management unit under the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project.

The water tank, located near Navoor School in an elevated area close to the Netravati River, supplies drinking water to Navoor village. Over the years, thick vegetation had grown around the tank, making access nearly impossible. Locals reported that the tank had not been cleaned for over 12 years.

Recognizing this issue, the Shaurya team from the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project cleared the overgrown weeds using machinery and cleaned the surroundings, along with the tank itself. The mud and silt accumulated in the tank were flushed out through pipes.

Project officer Balakrishna and supervisor Roopa J. visited the site during the cleaning drive. Shaurya team president Bhaskar, service representatives Vijay and Vasanthi, former Central Union president Sadananda Gowda Navoor, and Navoor gram panchayat members Triveni and Janardhan participated in the Shramadan.

"The Navoor tank hadn't been cleaned in 12 years. Through the Shaurya team, we managed to clean it. The area around the tank was overgrown with vegetation, but we cleared it. In the past, we've also undertaken activities like yard cleaning, drain repair at Navoor School, and repairing houses damaged by the rains," said Bhaskar, president of the Shaurya team, Navoor unit.
