During the three days of this international conference papers, testimonies and experiences of a theological-pastoral character based on the teaching of the Blessed John Paul II on the Christian value of suffering and the Gospel of Life are being planned, the Archbishop told Daijiworld.
These will be addressed from an interdisciplinary point of view in order to understand the relevance and the nuances of the disciplines connected with the questions and issues envisaged by the programme of the proceedings of the international conference, according to the Bangalore Archbishop.
Archbishop Moras is participating this Conference from last ten years continuously based on the experience of working in the Health field, specially as a Director of Fr Muller’s, hospital Mangalore and hospital Director at St. John’s hospital Bangalore.
He has contributed a lot in Health field. He was also served as chairman of Health Commission of Catholic Bishops Conference of India.
Many institutions, associations and organizations of the lay faithful involved in pastoral care in health will speak during the proceedings of this international conference, for example families, hospitals, volunteers, pastoral and health-care workers, Institutes of consecrated life and professional Orders called to sow the Gospel of Life in society and in the world.
The 26th international conference will offer pathways and cultural models, certain important experiences of scientific and educational institutions, and testimonies from those fields that are most involved in questions and issues connected with human life, in order to promote a Christian vision of the human person, of conjugal and family life, and of their responsibilities as regards the gift of life and received love.
At the heart of this programme, naturally enough, is the Great John Paul II: great in his earthly life, great in his suffering and death, and great in his holiness. A solemn celebrative event in his honour is envisaged by the programme and the speakers will be two eminent figures: Cardinal Fiorenzo Angelini, President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Health Care Workers, and Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, the Archbishop of Krakow.
The papers being presented on the first day of the proceedings will be of special interest: ‘The Wounded Healer: Christ, Physician of Bodies and Souls’, by Fra Enzo Bianchi, Prior of the Monastery of Bose (Italy); ‘The Role of Institutions and Governments in the Defence of Life’, by John Dalli, the European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy (Belgium); ‘The Anointing of the Sick: Medicine of Salvation’, by Rev. Eugenio Sapori, M.I., Professor at the Camillianum International Institute for the Theology of Pastoral Care (Rome); and ‘The Eucharist: Medicine of Immortality’, by Cardinal Antonio Canizares Llovera, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship, the Archbishop said.
