Bantwal, Aug 19: "The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has orchestrated a conspiracy to politically defeat Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, with the intention of destabilising the Congress government," alleged B Ramanath Rai, KPCC vice-president and former minister.
Speaking at a massive protest meeting organised by the Bantwal and Panemangalore Block Congress on Monday evening on B C Road, Rai condemned the Governor's decision to grant prosecution consent against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
He accused the BJP of attempting to undermine the government through the Governor and stated that the BJP's foot marches have had little impact. He criticised the Mysuru foot march as a premeditated act and urged for a vigorous fight against the BJP's conspiracies until a logical conclusion is reached.
KPCC general secretary Padmaraj R Poojari described Raj Bhavan as a BJP office and accused Amit Shah’s office of plotting to bring down Siddaramaiah.
He emphasised that Siddaramaiah is a politician of national repute with no corruption charges against him, and claimed that the Congress has always been willing to accept moral responsibility. Poojari noted that while Yediyurappa faced corruption charges and was proven guilty, the BJP’s efforts to remove Siddaramaiah from power over unproven allegations are unjust. He demanded the Governor to resign if he had any sense of morality.
Before the protest meeting, demonstrators conducted a foot march from Kaikamba Polali Gate to B C Road, expressing their outrage by burning tyres on the national highway.
The protest was attended by Block Congress president Balakrishna Anchan, Chandrashekar Bhandari, party leaders G E Bava, Ashwani Kumar Rai, Chandraprakash Shetty, Piyus L Rodrigues, Padmashekhar Jain, Baby Kunder, Mayilappa Salian, Devappa Kullal, Panjikallu, K Sanjeev Poojari, Mallika Shetty, Jayanti V Poojari, Lavina Wilma Morris, Aida Suresh, Dhanalakshmi, Madhusudan Shenai, Venkappa Poojari, Manohar Nerambolu, Abbas Ali, Chittaranjan Shetty, Subhashchandra Shetty, Sudarshan Jain, Mohammad Shareef, Jacintha D’Souza, Dr Raghu, Sadashiv Bangera, Josephine D’Souza, Narayan Nayak, and others.
