Udupi, Aug 19: BJP leader Pramod Madhwaraj has accused Mallikarjun Kharge of scheming to oust Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This claim was made during a protest staged by the Udupi district BJP at their office on August 19.
The demonstration, which addressed allegations related to the MUDA (Mangalore Urban Development Authority) scam, also called for Siddaramaiah’s resignation.
Madhwaraj alleged that Siddaramaiah’s brother-in-law had acquired land through dubious means, suggesting that the transaction was facilitated with Siddaramaiah’s guidance. “This scam has been ongoing since 2004, and construction is still underway on this land,” he claimed.
Kishore Kumar, president of the Udupi district BJP, criticised Siddaramaiah for allegedly prioritising family interests over public welfare. “Today the true nature of Siddaramaiah is being revealed. When similar allegations were made against B S Yediyurappa, he was urged to resign. It shows that Siddaramaiah came to power to strengthen his family, not to serve the people.” Kumar also condemned the authorities for permitting Congress protests while denying permission for their demonstration.
Addressing media persons, Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna said, “Siddaramaiah is the mastermind behind the MUDA and Valmiki Nigam scams. He is involved in numerous scandals. At the end of his tenure, the Siddaramaiah government is planning to loot the entire Karnataka. If he genuinely cares about the people of Karnataka, he will resign from his position. The Congress government is shaken by the Governor’s move. All 135 Congress-supporting MLAs are responsible for this situation and should work towards the betterment of their constituencies. It is comical that they are protesting to save their own chief minister.”
The protest saw participation from several prominent BJP leaders, including Mangaluru region convener Uday Kumar Shetty, BJP leader Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, former MLA Lalaji Mendon, BJP district general secretary Reshma Uday Kumar, and BJP leader Geethanjali Suvarna.
