Mangalore, Nov 13: Fire accidents involving vehicles in Mangalore continue, with a KSRTC bus catching fire on Sunday November 13 at around 12.45 pm at the KSRTC bus depot at Bejai, Mangalore.
It may be recalled that a workshop adjacent to the Durga Auto Works, a garage in Gorigudda, was gutted after fire broke out on Wednesday November 9 at 7.30 pm. Yesterday a major fire engulfed two shops located in Ullal causing huge loss of around Rs 50 lac.
The KSRTC Volvo bus fire is said to have been sparked off by the blast of a battery. As the fire station is located just opposite the KSRTC bus depot, the fire brigade arrived in time to prevent the fire from spreading and averting any major loss as many KSRTC buses were parked in the depot. It is said that the KSRTC staff had gone for lunch at the time of the accident and they came to know about it only after the arrival of the fire brigade.
The loss in the accident is yet to be ascertained, according to KSRTC officials.
