Dubai, Nov 13: ‘Kasargod Konkans’, an association for all Catholic Konkans of Kasargod deanery who are working in the different emirates of UAE, was established at Shezan Hotel here, recently. The aims and objectives and the format of the association was discussed and finalized in this inaugural general body meeting.
Kasargod deanery is the southern most deanery of Mangalore diocese and the only deanery of Mangalore diocese situated in Kerala. Hundreds of Catholics from the 13 Konkani churches of this deanery are working in UAE.
This is the first such association of Kasaragod Catholic Konkans in UAE and has been founded to strengthen the unity, to help each other, to act as an information centre, and to refresh and promote the members’ talents.
An action committee consisting of Santhosh Perla, Stany Bela, Thomas Kollangana, Loy Kasaragod, Rayan Manjeshwar, and Monica Maniyampare was formed for further action. New office-bearers will be elected in the next general body meeting scheduled to be held in Jan 2012.
