Mysore: Five New Police Stations in Coastal Belt – Home Minister

Mysore, Nov 13: Karnataka home minister, R Ashok, said that the government planned to open five new police stations in coastal region of the state, to be able to control naxal and terrorist activities there. They will be part of 16 new police stations planned to be set up in the entire state.

He was speaking after inspecting the guard of honour extended by the 35th passing out parade of 213 probationary sub-inspectors of police from the state and five from Puducherry at Karnataka Police Academy ground in Nazarbad in the city. The batch has 39 women probationers.

He revealed that training for a batch of 400 probationary sub-inspectors of police had begun on November 8. He added that the process of appointing 4,012 police constables will begin within two weeks. He also spoke about the plans to set up Karnataka Industrial Security Force on the lines of Central Industrial Security Force at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore. This force will be canalized to provide security to IT, BT and other important industries facing threat from terrorists, he explained. He also expressed happiness at the polite behaviour of the recently-recruited police personnel towards the public.

He also handed over prizes to the best all-round probationer, and best woman probationer, on this occasion.
