Mangalore: Grand Culmination to ‘Kalotsava-2011’, State-level Children’s Fest

Mangalore, November 12: ‘Kalotsava-2011’ a state level children’s festival organized by Sandesha, the foundation for culture and education concluded in a grand manner on Friday November 12. The three-day fest had begun on November 8.
It was sponsored by Karnataka Bank Limited. The festival aimed at promoting the artistic talents among the children. The competitions were held for higher primary, High school and PUC students, informed Fr Valerian Mendonca, director, Sandesha Institute.
Fr Mendonca announced that there were as many as 635 students from 30 different institutions. Competitions such as classical and western dance, singing, drawing and instrumental music was held for primary, high school, and PUC categories. There were 10 higher primaries, eight high schools, nine PUC and three special Schools of less fortunate took part in the various events.
Certificate and mementos were distributed to the winners while some schools won the rolling trophy. Some electrifying dances and singing too were part of today’s event.
For the valedictory, K G Ramesh Rao, Deputy General Manager, Karnataka Bank, was the chief guest. In his speech, he appreciated the fundamental step taken by Sandesha in nurturing the students as in art and communication; these institutions should be supported by the government. Parents must encourage and find out the talent of their children, he suggested.
