Udupi, Aug 14: Dr Ambedkar Vidya Jyothi Scholarship distribution ceremony was held by Canara Bank at Syndicate Bank Golden Jubilee Auditorium, circle office on August 14.
Rayappa, commissioner, city municipality Udupi, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp and in his inaugural note said, “Canara and Syndicate Bank both were independently working and are now merged. Both banks are doing good work. They are distributing scholarships to students and supporting education. Do not use the scholarship given for other reasons but only for education purposes. In this competitive world what knowledge we have is not enough. The scholarship should be used for good. Students should have vision and have confidence. Do not drop your education. The satisfaction you get from education cannot be got in other things. Also take special caution of malaria dengue.”
Chandrashekar Shetty, teacher, district physical education, in his words encouraged students to dream big. He spoke about sacrifices behind their education and the importance of removing corruption by empowering people from underprivileged backgrounds. He reflected on the success of Canara Bank, originally established for funding and its evolution into a successful institution. He guided students to dream big and never look down on ourselves.
The scholarships were distributed to backward caste students based on academic performance. The students of 5 to 7 grade were awarded with Rs 3,000 and students of 8 to 10 grade were awarded with Rs 5,000 in their respective branches.
The event began with the prayer song by Ruchi.
Harish welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest of honour.
Scholarships were distributed to 40 girl students, to support and empower the students in their educational pursuits.
Sathynaratana Bhupathipalli, deputy general manager, Canara Bank, Manipal, students, parents and others were present on the occasion.
