Mangalore: Thieves Gain Entry into Railway Quarters, Decamp with Gold, Silver

Mangalore, Nov 4: Thieves broke into a railway quarters in Pandeshwar police station limits here on the night of Friday November 4 and decamped with gold, silver and other valuables.
The theft occured at the quarters of railway assistant signal department technician Pramod Kumar from Bihar, who is away at his native place since October 27.
The stolen property comprises 27 grams of gold including two chains, three rings, 150 grams of silver including anklets, a dvd player and a home theatre system. The thieves also stole Rs 5000 in cash.
The thieves gained entry into the house by breaking the window grills and dislodging them. They also tried to break in through the door.
The theft was discovered when railway union secratary Anand, who stays in the same quarters and who was away at the time, returned and found the cupboard broken open and so also the window. Pramod's belongings were strewn across the house.
He immediately informed Pandeshwar police who rushed to the spot.
A case has been registered by the Pandeshwar police.
Cases of thefts have occured several times in the past at the railway quarters, but despite several complaints, police have failed to catch the culprits, sources said.
