Mangaluru, Jul 19: Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan visited various rain-damaged areas in the district on Friday, July 19. Accompanied by Zilla Panchayat chief executive Officer Dr Anand and other senior officials, the DC assessed the situation firsthand.

The team interacted with local residents, offering continuous assistance in affected and potential rain-prone areas. They advised local authorities to establish relief and vigilance centers for residents in areas like Bajpe, Adyapady, Bantwal, Kalladka, and Uppinangady. In Adyapady, they traveled by boat to survey the neighborhood, with Mangaluru subdivision officers Harshavardhan and local tahsildars also present.

In Adyapady village near Mangaluru, water entered houses due to the overflow of the Phalguni river, affecting 35 houses. DC Mullai Muhilan visited the site and directed relocating 80 people affected by the floodwaters.

The dam at Maravoor also caused flooding, affecting the village. The DC consoled the elderly during his visit to the affected houses.
