Riyadh, Nov 1: "Panorama came into existence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the objective of building a sprawling school that would consist of existing Urdu medium school along with other educational facilities like religious knowledge centre, English medium school, vocational training course for women, career guidance and tuition classes for higher class students etc," Ahmed Hussain, a senior resident, entrepreneur and ex-president of Panorama, Dammam-Khobar Unit said recently at the members gathering.
He further said, "The organization was started with the zero fund though the project was huge and pricey, however, we were able to generate the funds through various campaigns like family get-together, cricket tourneys, donation-moves from the donors and philanthropists in and outside the Kingdom etc. and were able to complete the first phase of the project that is aimed to have four phases. This shows the hard efforts and endeavors of the members; we need to work morefully as one family members for the complete achievement of the project and the welfare of the community back in hometown."
He was addressing at the joint gathering of Panorama-Riyadh and Dammam units at Paragon Auditorium in Riyadh. The annual general body meeting of the Association was also held alongside the gathering.
The meeting was kicked off with the Quran recitation by Ismail Manjanady followed by the welcome speech by the Unit’s President Abdul Khader. Mr. Nazir, President of the Dammam-Khobar Unit spoke occasionally.
The Association, included of young and active NRIs belonging to Padubidri village, was formed in 2006 in Dammam and Riyadh with the purpose of promoting education along with the key objective of upgrading the Urdu School, which had been existing in Padubidri since more than 75 years and was in dilapidated condition. Regardless of that, it also aimed to support the underprivileged class of the community in and around Padubidri through social, religious, educational awareness programmes etc.
In the succeeding AGM meeting held, the previous executive committee of Riyadh unit-2010-11 was dissolved with the pronouncement by its ex-President Mr. Abdul Khader. Before the pronouncement, he presented the comprehensive statement of accounts to the members present and thanked the members they extended their full cooperation during his tenure. Abubakker (Raiscogroup) put forth the brief report on the activities of the organization.
A election committee of three members was formed under the headship of Abdul Rahiman, past president of Riyadh Unit, in order to process the formation of new executive committee for 2011-12. P A Hameed Padubidri, advocate and journalist, was chosen unanimously as the president of Panorama Riyadh-Unit for the current year along with other executive members.

P A Hameed, who has been selected as the president, thanked the members and others present for his unanimous selection and called for the members to get more fully involved in successfully implementing the project to its complete phase, that is estimated at around Rs 1 crore, and to do more welfare programmes for the society as well as the community in the Kingdom and back in hometown.
Ahmed Hussain, Nazir, Mohammed Melangady, Ibrahim Meera Hussain, Abdul Rahiman Hussain, Abdul Salam Meera Hussain and others were present on the occasion.
Mohd Rafeeq, general secretary, proposed the vote of thanks.
