Mangalore: Police Arrest Gang of Four for Recent Robberies Across City, Seize Stolen Gold

Mangalore, Oct 29: As per the direction of Mangalore North police station SI Vinay A Gaonkar, Barke police station SIs Siddesh and Povappa H M and staff members on Saturday October 29 arrested four persons involved in various robbery cases reported in the city recently.
Yogish (34), resident of Mahakali Padpu, Jeppu, Anil Barboja (32), resident of Preethi Nagar, Prashanth Shetty (30), resident of Yekkur, and Ranjan (47), resident of Mahakali Padpu, are the arrested.
Yogish is said to be the mastermind of the team. The arrested are accused in other assault, attempt to murder, and murder cases too.
The four would come in auto rickshaws and rob youth wearing gold ornaments. They would first taunt their intended victim by asking questions like, “Do you tease girls?” and would take the victim in a rickshaw to remote places and then rob them. This went on for nearly one-and-a-half months.
Police seized 38 grams of gold worth Rs 1 lac, knife, and mobile phones used by them. Police traced the gold sold by these people at three shops—VRS Finance, Hampanakatta, Akshaya Finance Hampanakatta, and New Lavanya Jewellers, Bolar.
