Vettel Takes Pole at Inaugural Indian Grand Prix


Greater Noida, Oct 29 (IANS): Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel took the pole position at the inaugural Indian Grand Prix qualifying here Saturday -- his 13th pole of the season.

World Champion Vettel clocked 1 minute 24.178 seconds for the fastest time, ahead of McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and teammate Mark Webber in third.

Sahara Force India's Adrian Sutil was eighth with the best time of 1:26.140 set in Q2. Sutil's teammate Paul di Resta will start Sunday's race from 13th on the grid.

Hispania's Narain Karthikeyan was 22nd fastest in his home race and was a fraction slower than teammate Daniel Ricciardo, who will eventually start from the back of the grid due to a gearbox change.
