Riyadh: $50 Mn Saudi Aid for Turkey Quake Survivors

Riyadh, Oct 28 (IANS): Saudi Arabia will give $50 million for quake relief in Turkey, the official media reported.

The offer was announced Thursday by Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

At least 530 people have died in the 7.2 magnitude quake in eastern Turkey's Van province last Sunday. Some 2,300 people were injured.

The Saudi aid will help the Turkish government's efforts to provide emergency relief to the affected people, Xinhua quoted the state-run SPA news agency as saying.
