Mangaluru: Scooter rider falls into pothole, protests on the spot

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jun 27: Dangerous potholes have formed at the Suratkal junction on the national highway. A scooter rider fell into one of them and was injured on Wednesday.

Enraged by the Mangaluru City Corporation's negligence, the rider protested by placing his scooter in the same pothole.

It is reported that he later called off his protest, sought medical treatment at a government hospital, and then went home.

Surathkal stretch of national highway 66 is in worst condition. Also the traffic island ( traffic junction ) is unscientifically designed. Much more to happen. Also there are no speedbreakers, zebra crossing markings at Suratkal junction of NH-66 and Bajpe road.

But the local MLA was a dentist and the current MP is an ex- Army man., so education is not the issue. Trouble is these guys are not held accountable by the public and sadly the same guys are voted back into power in the name of 'we know who & what'. So the arrogance of power has gotten into their heads...whether they work or not, they know they will get elected back into power because of voters like us...we deserve what we get!!!

The unwanted flyover itself is a big development in Surathkal. Road was better and traffic was moving smoothly when there was no flyover.
