Mumbai: Flesh Trade Rackets Busted, 24 Rescued


Mumbai, Oct 26 (PTI): Twenty-four girls, including a 20-year-old married woman from Bangalore and 12 minors, were rescued during raids at two places where flesh trade rackets were underway, police said on Tuesday.

Sixteen pimps have also been arrested, they said.

Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid in suburban Dahisar on Tuesday at 12.30 am and a prostitution racket was busted by rescuing 20 females, including 12 minors, and arresting 15 pimps, including a woman, said Vasant Dhobale, Assistant Police Commissioner of Social service Branch.

In the second incident, a 20-year-old married girl, who was kidnapped on October 7 at Bangalore and brought to Mumbai, was rescued along with three others during a raid at Jamana Mansion building in Khetwadi area, he added.

Sunita Pujari, an alleged pimp, was also rounded up, Dhobale added.
