Bangalore, Oct 24: Archbishop of Bangalore Most Rev Dr Bernard Moras has strongly condmned the stone pelting on the statue of St Theresa in front of the St Theresa’s School in Bendoorwell in Mangalore on Sunday, October 23.
He said the attack has created a sense of fear among Christians of Karnataka over the recurrence of the series of attacks against churches and places of worship in 2008.
In a press release, the Archbishop, who is also the President of the Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops’ Council and the Karnataka Christians Unity Forum for Human Rights, said the unprovoked incident of stone pelting and attacks have enraged the Christian community.
Pointing out that anti-social and fundamentalist forces have rendered peaceful living difficult for minority Christians, the Archbishop has urged the the State Government and the Dakshina Kannada district administration to take suitable steps to identify and punish the culprints and prevent recurrence of such incidents.
