Bahrain, May 27: A warm welcome was afforded to the Yodelling King, Melwyn Peris and his troupe by the convenor of Konkani community in Bahrain Nelson Menezes and Konkani artistes on his arrival at Bahrain International Airport as the stage is being set for 'Dabazo-2024', a Konkani cultural extravaganza on the evening of Thursday, May 30, along with local Konkani artistes in Bahrain, at Our Lady of Arabia Auditorium, Sacred Heart Church premises commencing from 7.30 pm.
This Melwyn Peris Nite will be his 111th landmark programme that will captivate and rock the shores of Bahrain with an unforgettable evening of non-stop entertainment, drama, dance and laughter – a sumptuous taste of Konkani and some Tulu songs and folk dances that will keep the Konkani culture alive, home away from home.
Anita D’Souza, Ashwin D’Costa and Sonal Monteiro will join Melwyn Peris and rock the stage during their Bahrain stopover with songs of yesteryear classics that will touch and reverberate the hearts of Konkani enthusiasts in Bahrain. They will be joined by local artistes from Bahrain who will add further spice to the heart-throbbing entertainment programme and include singers, dancers, and actors performing comedy skits. The comedy skits written and directed by ace stand-up comedian Sujay Pinto will give rib-tickling laughter effect to the audience. The performances will include funny Tulu songs and even a ‘lungi’ dance of yester-years captivating the hearts of people from the Konkani heartland. Added attraction is a dance-skit performance from young-at-heart seniors group and folk dances by Konkani community children’s groups, ‘Destiny Kings’ and ‘Shining Stars’. The team of little dancers will scintillate the stage with their rendition. Performances that would certainly keep one glued in the audience chair with awe.
Music for the event will be hosted by maestro Roshan Angelore and Stephen Frank. Ronald Oliveira will be the main anchor, rolling the programme from start to finish as the enterprising master of ceremonies.
With just two days more for the event Dabazo-2024 with Melwyn Peris to take off, Konkani enthusiasts will have their favourite singer in a performance that will rock the Konkani world of enthusiasts with an unforgettable evening of music, dance laced with chaste Konkani humour that will keep Konkani culture alive.
The programme is complimentary and organised by the Konkani community of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bahrain, under the leadership of its convenor Nelson Menezes and the generosity of Konkani people and well-wishers in the Kingdom of Bahrain. All are welcome.
