Mangaluru, May 21: The Guest Lecturers Association voiced their endorsement of Congress MLC candidate Ayyanur Manjunath, citing his instrumental support in improving remuneration and aiding during the COVID-19 pandemic. Addressing the media at the Press Club in Mangaluru on Tuesday, May 21, Arun Shivamogga, general secretary of the Guest Lecturers Association, emphasized Manjunath's contributions to their community.
"Ayyanur Manjunath is our leader, and today, we are here to demonstrate our unwavering support for him. We endorse him because of his outstanding efforts in advocating for guest lecturers. Previously, guest lecturers received meagre salaries ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 13,000, but under his leadership, it has escalated to Rs 32,000. During the distressing period of the COVID-19 pandemic, Manjunath extended considerable assistance. He facilitated online classes for two years and ensured the job security of lecturers. Manjunath has been a pivotal figure for three years, initiating discussions with officials like Ashwath Narayan to address lecturers' salary concerns. Both deputy chief minister Shivakumar and chief minister Siddaramaiah have publicly acknowledged Manjunath's efforts. Additionally, he played a crucial role in resolving various issues within the constituency. Our support stems from his remarkable track record of service. We are not affiliated with any political party; our endorsement is solely based on Manjunath's commendable work, and we stand by him in this election," he stated.
