Mangaluru, May 21: MLC candidate S P Dinesh conveyed his disappointment at not receiving a ticket from the Congress party for the upcoming elections. He attributed this decision to the personal interests of certain individuals within the party. Addressing the media at the Press Club in Mangaluru on Tuesday, May 21, Dinesh recounted his past participation in MLC elections and expressed his assurance of a ticket this time, only to be informed later that it was given to someone else.
Dinesh emphasized the significance of the South West constituency, comprising 30 Vidhana Sabha constituencies and 84,000 voters. He clarified his loyalty to the Congress party and lamented the injustice of awarding the ticket to someone who had switched parties. Despite receiving support from many party members during his past contests, he acknowledged the influence of personal interests within the party leadership.
Regarding his plans for the constituency, Dinesh shared his vision of establishing a center offering competitive exam training facilities, digital libraries, and online applications. He criticized the Congress candidate for highlighting pension schemes while in power and blamed the current discourse on party politics.
When questioned about the person who secured his ticket, Dinesh confirmed their presence in Shivamogga and expressed gratitude to the district candidates who supported him. He underscored his familiarity with the Graduates Constituency, having worked closely in Kuvempu University and Shivamogga.
Responding to inquiries about caste politics within the Congress party, Dinesh denied its influence, noting his belonging to the same caste as the Congress candidate. He recounted discussions with party leaders, including the KPCC president, expressing shock and sadness over the ticket denial. Dinesh pledged to remain committed to his voters and stressed that this election transcends party lines.
