Udupi, May 21: "Congress government has provided numerous benefits to teachers and graduates of the state over the past decade. All beneficiary teachers and graduates should seize this opportunity to repay the debt by voting for Congress party candidates," said Dr R M Kuberappa, state president of the KPCC graduate unit.

Addressing the press conference in the city, Kuberappa stated, "A profit of at least Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 has been generated due to the implementation of all the recommendations of the sixth pay commission by the then Chief Minister (CM) Siddaramaiah. He has created lakhs of jobs for unemployed youths during his earlier tenure, offering thousands of job opportunities to unemployed Ph.D. holders by ordering the filling of vacant positions in aided schools of the state that had remained unfilled for the past 25 years.

"Among the five guarantees provided by the Congress government, unemployed graduate youths receive a monthly allowance of Rs 3000, while diploma holders receive Rs 1500 per month. CM Siddaramaiah's government recently responded positively to the protest of guest lecturers by increasing their salaries from Rs 38,000 to Rs 42,000. Additionally, they will receive health insurance and Rs five lakh compensation upon retirement. Interim relief according to the seventh pay commission has already been announced, with plans for the full implementation of the seventh pay commission recommendations soon. Vacant positions in all aided schools and colleges created due to retirement or death until 2015 have been filled.

"Intelligent graduates of the state and teachers should respond honestly and cast their valuable votes for Congress candidates in the teachers' and graduates' elections," he concluded.
