Mangaluru, May 21: The Manjanady gram panchayat installed CCTV cameras to capture individuals disposing of garbage along the roadside. On the day of the camera installation, a car with Kerala registration was recorded dumping garbage at a vacant land near Batyadka in the Manjanady village, near the Kerala-Karnataka border.

As Batyadka lies on the road connecting Karnataka to Kerala, suspicions arise that the garbage is being transported from Kerala and dumped in border areas of Karnataka.

The Tata Altroz car's registration number is KL 14 AB 3823. CCTV footage shows the accused stopping the car near the Batyadka plot area, dumping the garbage, and then speeding away from the scene.

Local residents had previously informed Manjanady gram panchayat officials about the foul smell emanating from the garbage dumped near their houses. In response to repeated complaints, the gram panchayat installed CCTV cameras on May 19. The same day, the offenders' actions were captured on CCTV.

The Manjanady PDO has lodged a complaint regarding this matter with the Konaje police.

I saw from santhekatte udupi everywhere same scenario. In Kuwait every where garbage bins are there near the road side Anybody can dump garbage. Then government should give contract for cleaning companies for clearing these garbage. Then there will be no rubbish on roadside. Government should collect monthly some money as garbage collection. Then our city will be a clean city in the town. No any other option. Then if they throw roadside heavy fine should be imposed If done like this many people will get jobs also

Garbage dumping should be stopped at any cost. We tried awareness. People didn't care. Now the best possible solution is punish the offenders just like they do in other countries. This is a serious matter. We cannot turn Mangalore into a garbage city. Corporations and town panchayaths should prioritise this.

Best solution is to create stone rains on their vehicles. Few locals around this area should gather near these dumping spots and rain their cars with stones when they are throwing the garbage; this way they will understand things much faster and they will gradually stop doing this sick practice.
