Bangalore: Court Rejects Ex-Karnataka Minister Katta's Bail Plea

Bangalore, Oct 17 (IANS): Former Karnataka minister Katta Subramanaya Naidu, arrested in a land scandal, Monday failed to get bail. He can, however, get treated for cancer at any hospital in India, a court here ruled.

Lokayukta Special Court Judge N.K. Sudhindra Rao, who Aug 8 sent Bharatiaya Janata Party leader Naidu to judicial custody, declined him bail but said the former IT minister could get treatment for cancer from either a government or a private hospital in Bangalore or anywhere in the country at his own cost.

Naidu and his son Katta Jagadish, a Bangalore corporator, are facing trial on charges of taking a bribe of Rs.85 crore to allot 385 acres of land in Bangalore outskirts to a software firm.

While Jagadish has been in jail since Aug 8, Naidu has been in a hospital for most of the time.

Totally agree with the Judge. Why should he get out without his punishment. He might have robbed hundreds of poor people suffering from cancer.

Very Good decision by Lokayuktha court. These corrupted politicians will be very good when looting the public money. Once they are arrested they catch all the diseases. Thanks to Mr N.K. Sudhindra Rao for the good judgement.

We hope Yeddi's bail application also will get rejected tomorrow and he spend rest of his life in Parappana Agrahara.
