Udupi/Mangaluru, May 19: Preparations are on in full swing for reopening of schools in the new academic year in the twin districts. The schools are set to reopen from May 29.
Preparations are being done to hand over uniform and textbooks to students on the first day of school in government schools. Around 47.67% of textbooks and uniforms for Udupi and 44.68% for Dakshina Kannada district have already been supplied by the school education and literacy department. Some districts are yet to get the supply of uniform. Dakshina Kannada has received two pairs of uniform while Udupi district is yet to get the same.
The education department has also made preparations to begin an enrolment campaign for government schools that fall under the limits of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. Headmasters, teachers, members of SDMC and staff are visiting homes and requesting members of the public to get their children enrolled to government schools. They are also conveying the public about the facilities that are provided in government schools.

School education department has drafted several plans for the educational developments of students and teachers. Inspection of the same will be done at school, cluster, block, district and divisional level by authority concerned. They have to also submitted reports on usage of grants by the education department regarding distribution and management including the mid-day meals to children.
DDPI of both districts have informed the school headmasters to get the school building and furniture repaired, painted and also get the school campus, classrooms, playground cleaned. They have also been instructed to prevent any hardships to students during the rainy season due to leakage from roofs etc.
