Mangalore, Oct 17: A J Hospital & Research Centre will be holding ‘10th Annual Day Celebration’ (decennial year celebrations) on Tuesday October 18 in the A J Institute of Medical Sciences auditorium at 4 pm. A J Hospital is completing 10 years of its service to the society on October 18.
The event will be blessed by Sri Keshavananda Bharathi Swamiji of Edaneer Mutt. The chief guest of the occasion will be Honorable district-in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada, J Krishna Palemar. The guest of honour will be vice chancellor of Nitte University Dr M Shantharam Shetty. The celebration will be presided over by chairman of A J Group of Institutions, A J Shetty.
Medical director Dr Prashanth Marla, trustee of LMET Sharada J Shetty, director of medical administration Dr Amitha P Marla and directors A Prashanth Shetty and Ashritha P Shetty among others will be present.
A J Hospital & Research Centre came into existence in the year 2001. The hospital is under the banner of Laxmi Memorial Education Trust which is successfully running in many colleges in Mangalore.
A J Hospital & Research Centre started with 350 bed super-specialty hospital in now 850 bed hospital also attached to A J Institute of Medical Sciences, specializing in more than 30 major medical disciplines, embracing new technologies to offer high level healthcare. The hospital is supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced doctors, nursing and paramedical staff. Apart from this, free treatment is given to nearly 600 outpatients and inpatients daily.
A J Hospital had been accredited with ISO 9001-2000 certification by TUV in the year 2004 and is in the process of getting NABH accreditation.
From its inception, A J Hospital has been conducting various camps in various parts of Karnataka and Kerala. More than 200 camps have been conducted covering all the super specialties like cardiology, cardiac surgery, endocrinology, nephrology, neurology, neuro surgery, plastic surgery and urology.
Some of the achievements of the hospital include being the first in drug eluting stent, renal transplantation, pediatric laporoscopic surgery, interventional radiology, first to introduce ‘comprehensive stroke unit’ in the region with the largest number of stroke reversals to the credit among others.
The Hospital has treated more than 20,000 cardiac patients, done more than 1500 cardiac surgeries, more than 8500 angiograms and about 2000 angioplasties and also the hospital is the only one to have an entire spectrum of imaging modalities including nuclear medicine, 1.5 telsa MRI, the latest 64 slice cardiac CT, 4D ultrasound machine and digital flat panel cathlab among others.
