Mysuru, May 16: The former BJP MLA of Udupi, Raghupathi Bhat, filed his nomination as an independent candidate for the southwest graduate constituency to the Karnataka Legislative Council on Thursday, May 16, in Mysuru.
Earlier in the day, Raghupathi Bhat also visited the Sri Chamundeshwari Temple at the Chamundi Hills in Mysuru with a large number of supporters and sought the blessings of the goddess deity.
Dr Shivacharan Shetty, BJP senior leader Vishwanath Bhat, Chethan Mandanna, M Shankar and others were present during the filing of nominations.
Raghupathi Bhat was a BJP aspirant for the southwest graduates constituency but was denied the ticket. He expressed his dissatisfaction against the party leadership's decision openly and also announced his candidature as an independent candidate supported by BJP party workers.
