Udupi, May 11: Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh has selected ‘Yettinagadi Express-2’ book by Vinisha Rodrigues for the year 2023 for the late Danti Award given annually for books written by Christian writers in Kannada language. Its first part was published in 2015.

Vinisha, who holds an MA in English literature, is currently working as a professor in Bengaluru and has acted in the drama and Yakshagana on Zee TV and Doordarshan. Her columns have been published in Kannada, Konkani and other language newspapers of coastal Karnataka.

Hailing from Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district, Vinisha is the daughter of Victor Rodrigues and Victoria D’Mello and is the wife of writer Pramod Rodrigues Hospet. Her sister is also a renowned writer and popularly known as Muddu Theerthahalli.

Alphonse D’Costa, convener of the award committee said in a release that the award consists of a shawl and a memento along with Rs 25,000 in cash and will be presented at the annual general meeting of the Catholic Sabha Udupi region to be held on June 9 at Anugraha pastoral centre.
