Kasargod: Violence in Meepugiri - Bikes Set Ablaze, Five Injured

Kasargod, Oct 14: Meepuguri, located on the outskirts of Kasargod, witnessed violence on late Thursday October 13 night. Two bikes were set ablaze and three houses were targeted by miscreants, leaving five injured.
On Thursday evening a student was allegedly threatened by a group in Meepuguri colony over a silly issue, which led to the violence, it is believed.
Ibrahim (68), his sons Sameer (34) and Shabir (20) residents of Thaivalappi were injured in the stone pelting incident. Town police have taken several suspects into custody, it is learnt.
Chandra (20) and rickshaw driver Mohamed Kunhi (50) were also assaulted by a group. Kunhi's auto was damaged by the miscreants. Also, an auto belonging to one Shreekanth in Meepuguri and houses of Shekar and Suresh were targeted by stone pelters.
A team came in many bikes allegedly threatened Naveen Kumar (30) and set ablaze his bike, charring it completely.
Another person, Dinakar’s bike parked in front of his house in Kotekani road of Choori was set on fire. Stones were pelted on the house of Mohammed Sameer and he too was assaulted.
Town police have registered cases against 30 persons. Police are on high alert in Meepuguri and surrounding areas.
