Bangalore: Governor Bhardwaj Lauds Caritas India’s Value-Based Service

Bangalore, Oct 13: Karnataka Governor Hansraj Bharadwaj has lauded the value based charitable and welfare works of Caritas India during the last 50 years all over the country.
Participating in the valedictory function of the golden jubilee celebrations of Caritas India at the St John’s Medical College Auditorium in Bangalore on Thursday, he said Caritas India’s focus on serving the people of all religions without caste, and creed based on the precepts of mercy, compassion and love was worthy of emulation by all charitable organisations.
Caritas India is the second largest humanitarian association in the world and first of its kind in the country is involved in social development and humanitarian operations, the Governor said while appreciating the services of Caritas India for it provides special protection for the weaker section and minorities. The Constitution implores everybody to love, respect and serve as brothers and sisters, he said.
The Governor gratefully remembered the services of Mother Theresa and said every Indian was proud of her because of her service to the suffering humanity.
Bhardwaj urged all to strengthen the inner community of India and to put an end to sectarianism and partisan thinking. ``Give up violence and hatred and dedicate a part of our income to charitable works,” he said.
The Governor also released the report of the flood situation of 2009 in Karnataka- “A Ray of Hope, New Life” brought out by Caritas India on its relief and rehabilitation activities .
Archbishop of Bangalore Rev Dr Bernard Moras, Bishop Peter Remigius, the Chairperson of Caritas India; Fr Peter Brank, Director of KROSS and Fr Fredrick D’Souza, the designated Director of Caritas India lighted the lamp and inaugurated the function.
Bishop Geevarghese Mar Divannious, Bishop of Puttur; Fr Lawrence D’souza, Director of St John’s Medical College; Chairperson State Women’s Commission Manjula C, Fr Varghese Mattamana, Ex Director, Caritas India, and Jimmy Mathew State Officer, Caritas India were among the other dignitaries who participated in the function.
The children of the Navajeevana Don Bosco children’s home invoked God’s blessings through a devotional dance.
