Amritsar: Aircraft with Six Karnataka MLAs Hit by Bird

Amritsar/Bangalore, Oct 13: A passenger aircraft with six MLAs from Karnataka onboard was on Thursday October 13 hit by a bird at the time of take-off at Amritsar airport in Punjab.
Jet Airways flight 8040 was supposed to fly from Amritsar to New Delhi at 10 am. However, just when the flight was about to take off, a bird hit the aircraft's engine which led to a technical snag. The pilot brought the aircraft to a stop right on time thus averting a mishap.
The flight was cancelled and the passengers were de-boarded. They were flown to New Delhi by another flight later. All passengers were reported safe.
Tipatur MLA Nagesh, Jayanagara MLA Vijayakumar, Kustagi MLA Amaregowda Bhayyapur, Hubli (rural) MLA Virabhadrappa, Gundlupet MLA Mahadev Prasad, Hunagunda MLA Doddanna Gowda from Karnataka were in the flight. They were on their way to New Delhi to attend a meeting.
Speaking to media persons MLA Nagesh said that it was by the grace of god that no major accident took place.
